PhD Student/Research Assistant
(salary level 13 TV-L, 75%)
in Management Accounting & Control
he position will start on 1 September 2018 or the earliest date thereafter. The position initially restricted to three years but can be extended if required. Applicants can apply at any time, even several months before finishing their studies.
What to expect
We offer the advantages of a young, dynamic, and internationally oriented team. We support students’ personal development by providing intensive supervision and support, including a structured PhD program. The goal is to allow students to submit their PhD thesis after 3.5 years.
We do empirical research in topics around management control, performance management, strategy implementation and execution. In these core areas, and considering the most recent trends such as digital transformation, we aim to gain state-of-the-art insights that will advance corporate practice.
Major tasks and responsibilities will be in teaching, academic consulting in our practitioner research network, and administrative duties. The successful applicant will have further opportunities to broaden their mindset through freelance activities in consulting and academic teaching, depending on their interests and stage in the PhD program. Applicants should show excellent academic achievements in business, economics, or closely related fields (e.g., MS degree, Diplom, or similar) or should soon be finishing their studies. During their studies, applicants should have acquired substantial knowledge in statistical and empirical methods, econometrics, and applied data analyses.

Applicants should be interested in our core topics and in empirical research on an advanced international level. They should have excellent English language skills and excellent analytical skills. Further, they should enjoy working on a team, have a sense of humor, and show enthusiasm for expanding their horizons.
