Strengthening of an L12-long range ordered intermetallic by disordered precpitates

Strengthening of an intermetallic by disordered coherent shearable precipitates has been investigated by:

  1. measuring the critical resolved shear strength of single crystals of such a material as a function of the volume fraction and the radius of disordered precipitates,
  2. computer simulating the glide of dislocations in such a material,
  3. stretching thin foils of such a material inside a transmission electron microscope and observing the glide of dislocations.
