Review on diffusion in metals and alloys

A review paper with an introduction to the basics of solid-state diffusion and a case study of diffusion in metals and binary alloys was finished and published as a Chapter in a book. The article summarises the continuum and atomistic description of diffusion in metals, explains the major experimental techniques, the dependence of diffusion on temperature and pressure. Diffusion in solids is illustrated with examples from interstitial diffusion in metals, self-diffusion in metallic elements, foreign atom diffusion in dilute metallic alloys, self-diffusion in binary intermetallics and reaction diffusion in binary systems.
