Living in Münster

Studying in Münster also means spending part of your life here. Münster has a lot to offer besides the university. Here you can get a little insight.

Münster as a city of bicycles

You may have heard that people ride bicycles a lot in Münster. The Münster Bicycle even has a name here: Leeze. If at first you are overwhelmed by the immense number of bicycles on the streets and in the parking spaces, you will soon discover the great advantages of the bicycle. You can reach everything important in Münster's city centre comfortably by bike on the well-maintained bikeways, and without the annoying search for a parking space. Most of the time you can even get there faster than by bus or car, for example. This is why it is so much recommended to start a new chapter of life in Münster with a bicycle.

Cultural offerings

Münster may seem village-like at first, but it is a city and this is also reflected in the cultural offerings. In addition to the large cinema Cineplex [de], there are also several small cinemas that offer the more alternative film genres in a unique atmosphere. Traditionally, there is also a wide variety of small theatres and creative houses in addition to the Münster Theatre [de]. For nature lovers, the Allwetterzoo [de] and the Botanical Garden are recommended. Fine arts can be admired in the Landesmuseum [de] or the well-known Picasso Museum [de].

University Sports (HSP)

The HSP offers many types of sports every semester for small student budgets. The offer ranges from the classic ball sports and a sophisticated fitness section with equipment training and power fitness, to a diverse offer in the area of dance, to health and relaxation. In addition to the courses during the semester, there is often also a holiday schedule.

Evening entertainment

Numerous pubs and parties in Münster should make it easy for you to add a little variety to your evenings. There's something for everyone - whether it's playing cards in Münster's first student pub, the "Cavete [de]", trying out the cocktails in the Jüdefelderstraße [de] or loosening up your muscles in one of the various discos, whether it's jazz in the Hot Jazz Club [de], soundtrack parties in the Klup, partying in the "Dille [de]" - Münster's party pub - or the Jovel [de], you won't get bored here.

Cafeteria

There are two large cafeterias, as well as numerous smaller ones such as the Hüfferstift and the cafeteria at the Leonardocampus. The Mensa am Ring is located directly next to the science faculties and is therefore the main place physicists go. It offers three different menus daily, one of which is vegan; in addition, there is always a fresh vegetable and salad bar, as well as a selection of fast food. You can find out what's on the menu on the webpage of Studierendenwerk [de].
