Further Information on the Study Programme

Which physical questions might be of interest to me?

In the Bachelor's programme you receive something like a general education in physics, and it is only in the Master's programme that you decide on two areas of interest. In Münster, various theoretical and experimental institutes are located in the Department of Physics.

Support programmes and scholarships

There are a number of funding programmes and scholarships to provide financial support during your studies. The requirements placed on the recipients vary greatly, so it is worth taking a closer look at the individual offers.

Active Physics Student Representation in Münster

Students have the opportunity to elect their representation, the FSV (german Fachschaftsvertretung) at their department. This elected body then appoints the student council (FSR, german Fachschaftsrat). It is an executive body which, among other things, organises the first-semester introduction week, the department's summer festival, the Master's information event or the Bachelor's-Master's Day and, above all, provides guidance for studying physics. In addition, the members of the student council actively participate in academic self-administration and thus have an influence on what happens in the department. This includes, for example, the construction of the degree programmes through the examination regulations or the distribution of quality improvement funds. You can find more information on the student council's website.

Studying Abroad and Work Placements

One way to expand your horizons is to live abroad for a while. This can be for one or two semesters at another university or as a work placement. Future employers also welcome this. You can find out more about preparation and support under Studying Abroad and Work Placements.
