This lecture Biopsychology is designed to familiarize students with the principles of biological psychology and with the fundamentals of the relationships between behavior and brain function. The course will provide a survey of the structure and function of the nervous system, a thorough discussion of the sensory and motor systems that are necessary for our ability to function effectively in the world, and, finally, a discussion of the application of these principles to specific behavioral topics (sleep, drugs, psychiatric disorders, stress and emotion). Association with human movement science and everyday life experiences will be made continuously. Lecture slides, selected chapters by Pinel & Barnes (2018) and additional literature will be uploaded on a weekly basis on Learnweb.
