WORK PACKAGE 2

Neurogenesis / regeneration in ND-associated NI

Eleven INMiND partner institutions from seven countries (Austria, Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom) are involved in the research activities of this work package. Leader of this work package is Ludwig AIGNER, head of the Institute of Molecular Regenerative Medicine at the Paracelsus University of Salzburg (Austria).

The main objectives of this work package are:

  • determine the differential impacts of microglial activity states on neurogenesis and structural regeneration capacity
  • characterize the influence of neural progenitor cells (NPCs) on microglia activity states during NI
  • preserve neurogenesis and improve structural regeneration during NI by modulation of type–specific
microglial effector pathways responsible for microglial activities
  • define the role of gender on neurogenesis and regeneration in ND-associated NI
