Setting up a VPN Connection (VPN AnyConnect) with OS X

Requirement: You have installed an up-to-date version MacOS or OSX.

  • Installation of the VPN-Client

    1. Software Download

    Download the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client. In order to install the software, you may need to sign in with your WWU ID and your WWU password again.

    Open the downloaded dmg file by double clicking.

    Start the Installation by double clicking the installation file AnyConnect.pkg.

    Start the AnyConnect Installer by clicking "Continue".

    Continue the installation by clicking "Continue".

    Accept the End User License Agreement by clicking "Agree" to continue the installation.

    We recommend to install only the package "VPN".

    Click "Install" to perform a standard installation on your Mac

    Depending on your settings, you may need to enter your Mac user name and password. Click on "Install software" afterwards.

  • Starting & Ending the VPN Connection

    Open the Cisco AnyConnect Client.

    2. Entering the VPN Server-Address

    Insert the server address vpn.uni-muenster.de and start the connection by clicking "Connect".

    Enter your WWU ID as well as your password for network access and click "OK".

    4. Disconnecting the VPN-Connection

    The ball with the closed lock in the status bar indicates that you are connected to the VPN network now. If the connection is no longer needed, click on the icon in the taskbar and click "Disconnect".
