Sophos Antivirus Installation Guide for Mac OS

 

• Account creation and download

   

  1. Create a user account

  Please click on the following link: https://home.sophos.com/en-us/employee/Hochschulen-NRW.aspx
  
  In case this link doesn't work, please use this one instead: https://home.sophos.com/employee/
  
  In order to create your account you will need your university email address. Only email addresses with @uni-muenster.de are accepted.
   

  

  2. open your email account

  In your email account you will now find a mail from Sophos. This contains your personal voucher code, which is needed to activate the premium version.
  Click on "Create account".
  
   

  

  3. account creation

  Please enter your name and your email address of the University of Münster as shown on the screenshot. In the 4th field please enter a password of your choice.
  In the lowest field your voucher code should have been taken from the e-mail. Otherwise you have to enter it here.
  
  Then, please klick on "create accout" and confirm the incoming mail in your mailbox by clicking on "confirm email adress".
   

  

  4. Download installation programm

  Please click on the installer to download the installation. (If only one selection is given, your operating system has been detected automatically).

  

• Installation of Sophos

  1. Starting the installation

  In the beginning, you will find the Folder „SophosInstall“. Please start the installation by double-clicking on the Icon shown at the screenshot, which can be found in the folder.
   

  

  2. Installation

  Now you find yourself in an installation dialog.
  
  Please click on „Continue“
  
  Wait, until the installation is completed.
   

  

  3. Enter the Mac password

  Enter now your Mac-Password so that Sophos can be installed. The username is usually prefilled. Then please click on „Install Helper“

  

  Authorising Sophos

  In the end, open the System Preferences as shown on the screenshot.

  

  Security options

  Make shure, that the shown Software is given full acess on the Hard Drive. You might unlock the lock shown on the left bottom before to apply changes.
  
  Now, Sophos Antivirus is completly installed.
