I will describe the construction of a warped cone, which is a metric space constructed from an action of a group on a compact space. The dynamical properties of the action influence the geometry of the corresponding warped cone. In the case of an action with a spectral gap we will construct ghost projections. Such ghost projections are an obstruction to the coarse Baum-Connes conjecture.
