I will define the notions of a partially symmetric automorphism and Auter space, and discuss a version of Auter space that lends itself well to analyzing groups of partially symmetric automorphisms of free groups. I will also discuss the notion of "degree" in the context of Auter space, and explain how it informs homological stability arguments, both for Aut(F_n) and for the partially symmetric case.
