Postdoc in Germany information events in Fortaleza and Recife

In October 2025, the consortium of German universities will hold two editions of the Postdoc in Germany workshop in Brazil’s Northeast: in Fortaleza (21/10) and Recife (23/10). Organised by the German Centre for Research and Innovation (DWIH) São Paulo and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the events target early-career researchers who are in the final years of their PhD or who completed their doctorate no more than four years ago and wish to conduct research in Germany.

University of Münster at the 77th SBPC Annual Meeting in Recife

From 13 to 18 July 2025, the University of Münster – represented by Cíntia Toth, Head of the Brazil Centre and the Liaison Office São Paulo, and Dr. Anne Vortkamp from the REACH – Euregio Start-up Center – took part in the 77th Annual Meeting of the Sociedade Brasileira para o Progresso da Ciência (SBPC) in Recife.

Münster Expertise in Demand at Brazilian Scientific Conference

Dr. Anne Vortkamp speaks on an international panel on female entrepreneurship and innovation

Dr. Anne Vortkamp, member of the scouting team of the REACH - EUREGIO Start-up Center at the University of Münster and Münster University of Applied Sciences and founder of the start-up CARAPAX biotechnologies, was nominated by the Brazil Center of the University of Münster and selected as one of two speakers from Germany for the traditional round table of the German House for Research and Innovation (DWIH) São Paulo.

Brazil Centre holds information events for PhD students and postdocs

For over a decade, the Brazil Centre at the University of Münster has been organising and participating in informational events for Brazilian students and researchers interested in pursuing postdoctoral stays in Germany. More recently, these activities have been expanded to cover other countries in South America.

Brazil Centre of the UM participates in the Germany Day at Fiocruz

A visit by representatives of the Casa de Oswaldo Cruz, the institute of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) dedicated to the remembrance and study of the history of medicine in Brazil, served as the impetus for organizing a seminar that took place on 6 December in Rio de Janeiro.

Alumni from Uni Münster and FU Berlin meet in São Paulo

The official residence of the German Consul General in Brazil was once again the venue for the University of Münster's annual alumni meeting, which was organised jointly with the Freie Universität Berlin as in 2022. Almost 40 participants came together on 26 November in the beautiful evening weather to exchange contacts and experiences.

Last stop of the fact-finding mission: Chile

The last leg of the trip took place in Chile, a country with numerous joint publications with the University of Münster. This time, the delegation was accompanied in most of its appointments by another representative of the University of Münster.

FAUBAI annual conference attracts a large German delegation

The Brazilian Association for International Education, FAUBAI, held its 36th conference at the end of April in São Paulo.  The organisation, which brings together executives and heads of international affairs from Brazilian higher education institutions, also opens its conference to foreign participants.

Brazilian Centre participates in Argentinian conference on internationalisation

At the end of March 2024, with the aim of bringing institutions closer to other Latin American countries, the Scientific Director of the Brazil Centre, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bernd Hellingrath, and the Director of the São Paulo Office, Laura Redondo, took part in the conference "The challenges of the university system and internationalisation", held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

GLOSUS PROJECT: Unveiling Sustainability's Local Realities

The GLOSUS project – "The Global Geographies of Sustainability: Local Knowledge, Everyday Practices, and non-professional Forms of Living and Housing" is an initiative funded by DAAD and CAPES, which marks a very significant collaboration between the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at the University of São Paulo (FAU-USP) and the Institute of Geography at the University of Münster (UM).
