Owner of the Brazil Chair of the University of Münster from 2018 - 2019 at the Institut für Informations-, Telekommunikations- und Medienrecht (ITM).

Topic of his research: "Blockchain and intelectual property right: legitimacy of smart contracts for personalized management of copyright in the information Society".

Prof. Dr. Wachowicz has a qualified academic background and recognized professional competence in the area of ​​Intellectual Property, having been a visiting professor in several universities abroad, namely: Spain, Portugal and Argentina.

Vita

Prof. Dr. Marcos Wachowicz (born in 1960) has been a researcher, teacher and advisor since 2006 as part of Post-Graduate Programs in Law namely UFSC and UFPR (both recognized by CAPES as Brazilian centers of excellence in research in Brazil), with relevant academic activity in Intellectual Property Law, including his doctoral thesis was on Intellectual Property of Software and Information Society;

For over 10 years, Dr. Wachowicz has been the coordinator / leader of the Group of Research in Industrial and Copyright Law – GEDAI / UFPR, which is currently linked to the Graduate Program in Law of the Federal University of Paraná – UFPR.

The main objective of GEDAI is to study the development of Intellectual Property Rights in the Information Society by comparing the international copyright system and the industrial system, analyzing the processes of realization of cultural rights and diversities, and reflecting on the regulation of rights to the challenges of the Information Society.
