Centrally financed visiting professorships
In order to promote exchanges and the internationalization of research and teaching, Münster University invites professors and lecturers from other universities to come to Münster. Over recent years around 130,000 euros were regularly made available for this from the central budget.Visiting academics receive a standard remuneration of 1,800 euros per month (before tax). The net amount of remuneration depends on existing double taxation and social insurance agreements.
An application for approval for a centrally financed visiting professorship can be made informally by any institute here, but it should include the following information:
- Surname, first name, date of birth, complete address, academic qualification(s), guests current position and activity
- Expected length of stay (max. three months)
- Justification for the visit, stating the activity to be carried out here, and in particular stating whether the guest is to take on either teaching or research work, or teaching and research work
- If available: a curriculum vitae or other personal data pertaining to the guest.
The application is to be sent to Dept. 3.2 of the University Administration via the Dean/Head/Director of the university institute in question.

A fee will be agreed with the guest which will be drawn up by Dept. 3.2. The remuneration will be paid without any deductions. Generally speaking, it will have to be declared for tax purposes in the guests home country, in accordance with the respective double taxation agreement. The guest alone will be responsible for health and accident insurance.
Note: The costs for the journey to Münster cannot be borne from Münster Universitys central funds.

Academics from outside Münster University receive an allowance for travel, accommodation and meals when they give lectures here.
