Master of Science Geospatial Technologies/Erasmus Mundus

The Master of Science in Geospatial Technologies at Münster University is a collaboration between the Institute of Geoinformatics, Universitat Jaume I (Dept. Lenguajes y Sistemas Informaticos, Castellón, Spain) and Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Instituto Superior de Estatística e Gestão de Informação, Lisbon, Portugal). The three-semester masters course, held in English, is aimed at graduates of bachelor courses in the field of geoinformatics. Any students interested can apply to take part in the Erasmus Mundus programme, an international exchange programme.

The Master of Science in Geoinformatics follows on from a bachelor degree in the same or a related subject. The Institute of Geoinformatics is one of the leading institutes in this field and gives students the opportunity to become involved in innovative research programmes. This also means that in their masters thesis they can get to grips with new or emerging technologies.

Master of Science in Information Systems

The Master of Science in Information Systems is an accredited, two-year course of study in the credit points system. The course consists for the main part of on-site teaching (compulsory attendance) which always includes opportunities for e-learning. The programme is structured around four thematic areas: process management, business intelligence, information management and business networking.

Physics in Münster focuses its activities on five innovative areas of actual top level research in ten experimentally and theoretically oriented institutes: Geophysics, Nanophysics, Particle Physics, Nonlinear Physics and Didactics of Physics for teacher. Specific characteristics of the Department of Physics at the WWU are an interdisciplinary orientation, the participation in various third-party programs and the initiation of important centers within the scope of research focuses. Furthermore, with its 1600 students the Department of Physics at the WWU is one of the largest Physics Departments in Germany.

Master of Arts in National and Transnational Studies: Literature, Culture, Language

As the focus of the Masters Course in National and Transnational Studies is mainly on anglophile literature and culture, most of the teaching is done in the English Department. However, students also have the opportunity to integrate interdisciplinary components into their studies. These can include, for example, other languages, history, social sciences or ethnology.

Master of Arts in Social Anthropology

Social Anthropology is the science of cultural identities and differences. It aims to observe, analyse and interpret domains of social action that reflect such cultural characteristics in a theoretically grounded and methodically consistent manner.The comparison of societies therefore provides the basic theoretical perspective and informs the analytical and methodological approaches. Social anthropological knowledge and competence enable one to interact in these domains of action in a scientifically valid, socially relevant and ethically responsible manner.This Master´s Programme transfers knowledge of the theories and current research issues of Social Anthropology, to be applied and further developed in the course of an empirical research project.

Master of Arts in European Studies

(Department of Political Sciences)

The European Studies Master’s programme is a special 1.5-year degree programme offered jointly by a Dutch and a German university. Lectures are held at the Center for European Studies (School of Management and Governance, University of Twente) and the Institute for Political Science (WWU Münster). Students who successfully complete this programme receive a Dutch and a German diploma. Students develop key professional skills, which can translate into concrete career opportunities (including an academic career). Successful graduates are prepared for a career in a united Europe whether at the national level or at the European level. Please note that applications for this degree programme have to be submissed to the University of Twente.
