Dr. Thomas Middelhoff
Dr. Thomas Middelhoff has been a member of the Münster University Council since March 2008. He was born in Düsseldorf in 1953 and studied business administration at Münster University. He gained his PhD in Saarbrücken in 1979.
He began work in his father’s company, and in 1986 he moved to Bertelsmann AG in Gütersloh, where he became CEO in 1998. In 2005 he became CEO of KarstadtQuelle AG, and from 2007 to February 2009 he was CEO of the Essen-based trading and tourism concern Arcandor AG. After this he set up the financial investment company of Berger Lahnstein Middelhoff & Partners (BLM Partners) with its head office in London. Thomas Middelhoff has an honorary doctorate from Leipzig Graduate School of Management.
