  "Amicitiae mutuae pignus“

 

  

… so reads the inscription on the medal of friendship of the University of Münster. This "pledge of mutual friendship" Prof. Dr. Nelly Tsouyopoulos and Andros Nicolaides received from the University of Münster on 7th November 2002. With this rare award the University of Münster demonstrated her deep respect for the commitment of these two persons with regard to the founding of the Institute of Interdisciplinary Cypriot Studies at the University of Münster in 1996.

 

The Rector, Prof. Dr. J. Schmidt, while delivering the medal to Nelly Tsouyopoulos and Andros Nicolaides.

Nelly Tsouyopoulos, professor for the history of medicine at the University of Münster, had been the President of the Interim Governing Board for the Foundation of the University of Cyprus and was a board member of the Institute for Cypriot Studies until her death in 2005.

Andros Nicolaides was ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Germany from 1992 until 1996.
