Virtual Private Network (VPN)
Some of the university`s services are only available in the university network due to legal licensing reasons, e. g. journals. However, you can access these services off-campus through a VPN connection. In this case, you are provided with a university IP address which identifies you as a member of Münster University. A VPN connection requires not only your userID and your password for network access, but also a so-called VPN client which establishes a secure connection to the university network. The ZIV provides you with the necessary program, namely the Cisco VPN Client and the required parameters in a downloadable profile. Our step-by-step manual (in German) will help you to set up your VPN client simply and safely.
