Which ways of network access are offered by the university and how can I use them?
You have various options to access the university network and the world-wide web. In addition to wired network access within the facilities of the university, you can also access the internet via WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network). Please inform yourself about these and further ways of network access.
My WLAN does not work! What could be the reason?
If you can`t use the university`s WLAN despite the exact adherence of our manuals, there are several reasons for that. The most common reasons are: bugs at your hardware e.g. your WLAN card, problems with the software e.g. blocking firewalls as well as problems with your central username or your central password. If the reason could be a problem with your password, try to change it first. If your WLAN still does not work, please call the ZIVline or visit our help desk staff in Einsteinstraße.
Why do I need a VPN access and how do I install it?
A VPN access is needed, if you want to use a service at home, which is normally only available in the university network (e.g. professional journals or software). Here you can find an overview of the possible applications of VPN at WWU (only in German language).
This manual describes the installation of the VPN access.
