Wake-On-LAN
Often workstations also have to operate during the night and at weekends, as they sometimes have to carry out administrative actions via remote desktop connections. With the wake-on-LAN devices offered by the current product types you can turn the workstations off and with the lowest energy consumption possible, leave them in a waiting position with a „wake-up“ function controlled by the data network. The workstation “wakes up” as soon as it needs to carry out a debugging or maintenance operation.
In order to enable the IT-administrators of Muenster University to carry out these operations via remote access from their home, we have adjusted the central network components with additional programming. This sensible and energy-saving function can be used after the individual activation by the ZIV.
