Computer-Labs
At the end of the year 2008 the ZIV built new computer labs. This project was financed by tuition fees. Newer, energy-efficient and high-performance computer systems have replaced the outdated Pentium IV systems (Netburst architecture) known for their high energy consumption. The new systems not only offer a considerably wider range of functionality but also reduce energy consumption.The computers in the ZIV labs remain in operation outside the opening hours of the pool-rooms, as they also serve as network nodes of the ZIVGrid. Thus, they support scientific computing at Muenster University in the sense of a best possible utilization of the resources.
