Act Now: Secure Your Email Access

From 29 June onwards, accessing your university emails from outside the university network will only be possible via VPN with two-factor authentication (OTP). Without these precautions, you can no longer access your inbox on the go or from home. Installing the “Cisco Secure Client” and setting up two-factor authentication in advance are strongly recommended. This mandatory measure is part of the University of Münster's implementation of North Rhine-Westphalia's cybersecurity agreement.

Warning About Attacks via Messaging Services

The Information Security Office is currently warning of phishing attacks carried out via the messaging apps WhatsApp and Signal. If you have forwarded security codes or scanned a QR code in a messaging app, you may be at risk.

Another warning concerns the Russian messaging service MAX. This service should not be used due to the potential for access by Russian security authorities.

Start of Registration for Software Training Courses

CIT's software training courses are entering a new round with a range of online, Learnweb, classroom, and self-study courses. Students can register for the free courses starting Thursday, 05.03.2026, at 5 pm. The topics covered include office, graphics, and statistics programs, as well as AI and IT security.

Improved Sustainability through Energy-Efficient Data Centers

Within the framework of the Energy Efficiency Act (Energieeffizienzgesetz, EnEfG), the University of Münster is seeking DIN EN ISO 50001 certification to underline its commitment to energy efficiency in the data centers it operates. The CIT and Department 4 "Facility Management" are working together to continuously improve energy performance and ensure the responsible use of resources. Since 2025, the energy policy of a first data center has been aligned with the requirements of ISO 50001. The audit process for certification will be carried out in March 2026 by the company GutCert. UniGPT: New Version with Expanded Functions and Improved Interface

The version of UniGPT available as of today offers numerous improvements for employees and students at the University of Münster, including new AI models, expanded personalization options, and additional features such as prompt management and voice control. A revised design and new accessibility and efficiency features are intended to make the platform clearer and more flexible to use.
