After more than 1.5 years of field research in Latin America, the junior researcher team has now relocated to Germany (Münster and Bonn, respectively) to continue the analysis of the collected data, summarize the results in project briefs and publications, and start work on the two doctoral theses. Additionally, the team is seeking to engage with fellow academics and practitioners in disseminating and discussing its findings.

In that aim, several TRANS SUSTAIN events are currently in planning for the coming months, to be held in Münster and Bonn; furthermore, the TRANS SUSTAIN project will be present at the ESEE conference in Budapest, the Cocotea conference in Turin, and the APSA conference in San Francisco.

Finally, the next generation of young researchers is starting to become acquainted with the project focus as Janina Grabs is teaching a class on ‘Ethics and Sustainability Governance in International Value Chains’ to bachelor students at the University of Münster;  and a bachelor’s thesis on Direct Trade in the coffee industry is in preparation under supervision of Professor Thomas Dietz.
