TRANS SUSTAIN’s Janina Grabs organized two panels on transnational private governance at the 2019 Annual Convention of the International Studies Association in Toronto, and presented two outputs of the TRANS SUSTAIN project: “Is private environmental governance an oxymoron? The effectiveness of market-based sustainability standards in improving ecosystem conservation”, and “Signaling sustainability: The interplay of public and private regulation of tropical commodity production”. The International Studies Association is one of the oldest and largest interdisciplinary associations dedicated to understanding international, transnational and global affairs.
