  • Information about PhD Theses

The department of Psychology and Sports Sciences at the University Münster has its own PHD regulations since July 2010. Due to the extraordinary capability of achieving doctoral dissertations, the statuses “Doctor of Philosophy” (doctor philosophiae – Dr. phil.) and “Doctor of Natural Sciences” (doctor rerum naturalium (Dr. rer. Nat.) can now be awarded. By means of the dissertation, the candidate proves his capability to conduct his or her own scientific research, going above and beyond the proposed goals of the course of studies. Which degree the candidate will receive is decided upon by the dissertation committee and the candidate himself and depends on the topic of the thesis and the methods used.

The current regulations for dissertations can be found here.

Varying literature regarding PHD theses about scientific standards, current trends and other topics can be found here.

A detailed summary of the six steps towards a PHD has been developed by the deanery. Additionally, all necessary forms can be downloaded there.

Detailed information can be requested from the PHD committee (The current head of the committee is Prof. Dr. Stephan Dutke).

Additionally, the KFWN can help with questions regarding the PHD program at the Institute for Sports Sciences.
