German-japanese Symposium

3rd - 5th october 2012 | Münster

"Development through sport and renewing its cultural value".

The Institute of sport science presents, together with the Bundesinstitut für Sportwissenschaft (BISp) and the Willibald Gebhardt Institut (WGI), in cooperation with the Deutschen Vereinigung für Sportwissenschaft (dvs)  the german-japanese Symposium 2012. Host of the symposium is the Department of Sport Psychology under the direction of Prof. B. Strauß, Co-hosts are Prof. M. Tietjens and PhD B. Halberschmidt.

The Symposium takes place on a regular basis (1995 Berlin, 1996 Tokyo, 1998 Essen, 2000 europeen academy of sport in Velen, 2002 Kyoto, 2005 Jena, 2010 Tokyo). It is supposed to contribute to the conjunction between the German and the Japanese sport science and the practical experiences in sport in the countries Germany and Japan.

At the same time, the symposium serves to deepen the cooperation between the German Association of Sport (dvs) and the Japan Society of Physical Education, Health and Sport Sciences

The development of the supply with sports, sports programs, facilities and opportunities for the promotion of children´s, adolescents´ and adults´ individual development is being discussed and researched intensively among sport scientists. There are diverse interactions between sport facilities, contents or programs of sports and the forms in which sport is organized. Therefore, modern planning of sports development has to take into account offers, infrastructure (ie sports facilities) and organizational structures in which sport takes place (ie clubs, schools, universities, commercial providers) and unite them to an overall concept.

Examples of topics being treated:
- sport development in Germany and Japan
- development of sport facilities
- development of universities
- development of top-level sport in various cultures

Further contributions by sport scientists from all disciplines which might enrich the symposium are very welcome!
