WWU is establishing a Smart Network of Graduate Schools in the Humanities and Social Sciences, the smartNETWORK. On our pages you will find detailled informations about the smartNETWORK, the involved scientists, the main themes (anchor themes) as well as news out from the network.
smartNETWORK
The Smart Network is a flexible and dynamic configuration to structure the doctoral training in the humanities and social sciences. The Smart Network provides a conjoint doctoral programme focussing on a trans-disciplinary anchor theme. To reflect the progress of knowledge the anchor theme will change over time, and its development is a core element of the Smart Network. The anchor theme identifies a research gap in the humanities and social sciences. Doctoral candidates and senior researchers work together and evaluate the scientific process. After a period of usually five years, a new anchor theme is defined that either builds on the last anchor theme and makes it more specific or gives the research process a completely new direction. It is the aim to concentrate as many resources of the Smart Network as possible on one anchor theme to create synergetic effects. The first anchor theme will be “Decisions, Strategies, and the Public”.
