Project Z02

Animal models and phenotyping

Michael Kuhlmann, Cornelius Faber

Autoradiography β-adrenoceptor ligand 125I-ICYP on cryofixated myocardial short axis sections. β-adrenoceptor binding was decreased in a model with a sodium channel mutation. Fabritz et al Cardiovasc Res 2010.

Project

Access to appropriate disease models, mimicking the pathology of cardiovascular human diseases is essential for progress in the field of molecular imaging and for the transfer of preclinical results into the clinical setting. Project Z2 provides highly standardized models for validation of imaging techniques and new ligands.

In addition, phenotyping, and morphological and functional imaging of the models will be provided and organized. Project Z2 will serve as an imaging platform providing established and tailored techniques in ultrasound (US), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), positron emission tomography (PET) and fluorescence mediated tomography (FMT).
