Postdoctoral support

Since its foundation, the Cluster of Excellence has made it its mission to offer postdoctoral researchers from Germany and abroad optimal working conditions for independent research and the opportunity to gain further academic qualifications. As independent project leaders in the research of the Cluster of Excellence “Religion and Politics”, postdocs have the same status as professors and thus plenty of autonomy for their research projects.

Postdoctoral researchers participate with their projects in the interdisciplinary research programme of the Cluster of Excellence. Like all project leaders, they are active in the three fields of research – transcultural entanglements and disentanglements, religious diversity and legal-political unity, and criticism of religion and apologetics; in the five theory platforms of conflict, emotionality, mediality, social inequality, and differentiation; and in Research Clouds such as theological doctrine and lived religiosity, migration and diaspora, ambiguity and decision-making, as well as genesis and validity. The postdocs send their representative to the Cluster of Excellence’s Board of Directors.

Postdocs at the University of Münster have access to various points of contact and advisory services such as the Equal Opportunities Office, SAFIR and the International Office, which help postdocs reconcile family and career, plan their academic careers, write applications, apply for third-party funding, and achieve international mobility.
