The Faculty of Geosciences, Westfälische Wilhelms Universität Münster, invites applications for a

Professor of Mineralogy (W3)

in the Institute of Mineralogy.

Applicants should have a strong background in both research and teaching with emphasis in the general area of mineralogy or mineral physics applied to understanding Earth and planetary processes. The ideal candidate will have broad interests in geosciences with a well-established research and funding record. He or she will have an international research profile in one or more of the following disciplines: experimental or computational mineralogy, mineral physics, or mineral chemistry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching basic and advanced mineralogical topics at the B.Sc.- and M.Sc.-level, supervising students at all levels, and leading field courses.

Prerequisite for the application are academic achievements made as a juniorprofessor (assistant professor), in a habilitation (postdoctoral qualification), as a member of the academic staff of a university or non-university research institute, or in a research position in business, industry, administration or other relevant fields in Germany or abroad.

We actively encourage applications from suitably qualified women. Female candidates with equivalent qualifications and academic achievements will be preferentially considered.

Proficiency in spoken and written German is not required initially, but a willingness to learn German within three years is expected.
