The International Graduate College 'Template Directed Chemical
Synthesis'
constitutes a joint, new approach in education and research between the
University of Münster and the Holland Research School of Molecular
Chemistry
(HRSMC) with its member universities Universiteit van Amsterdam, Vrije
Universiteit
Amsterdam and Universiteit Leiden. Initially (04/2001) 12 research
groups from the
institutes of inorganic and organic chemistry from Münster and 8
research groups
from the Dutch partner universities teamed up to carry out joint
research on
'Template Directed Chemical Synthesis'. For this purpose, five
Interfacial
Subgroups (ISG's) were formed, combining researches from related fields
of interest
and expertise. Each Dutch/German ISG's formulated a joint research
proposal and
plan of action for the first funding period in the field of template
directed chemical
synthesis. In addition to the chemically active ISG's, another ISG was
formed
dealing with management of innovation in chemical industry. This ISG 6,
headed
by the Münster chair of business management, provides a unique
contribution to
the teaching program of the International Graduate College.
