Welcome to the Developmental Psychology Lab!

In our Lab we focus on the social, emotional and socio-cognitive development from infancy to preschool. Most of our studies are characterized by a context-sensitive and cross-cultural perspective on child development.

In what way does the cultural model and the social context constitute child-development? What are cross-cultural similarities and in what way do cultural contexts differ concerning important socialization goals and the way in which caregivers interact with their children and structure their experience and behavior? Which consequences do these similarities and differences have for children’ social, emotional, and socio-cognitive development?

These questions concerning the sociocultural influences on child development are at the core of our research.

Our research always implies an applied perspective. In cooperation with counselors and early childhood practitioners, the Counseling Lab develops culture-sensitive counseling and training programs.
