Research interests

In my research, I am primarily interested in the interplay between persons and their contexts. I explore this interplay across three broad areas: (1) momentary person-situation dynamics, (2) longer-term outcomes and development, and (3) the broader socio-cultural context in which people are embedded. Some of my specific research interests are:

  • Personality Dynamics: Momentary and Long-Term
  • Person × Situation Interactions
  • Idiographic and Nomothetic Approaches to Personality
  • Personality and Culture
  • Personality, Activities, and Well-Being
  • Measurement of Psychological States and Situations
  • Statistical Modeling of Within-Person Associations
  • Research Methodology in Personality Science
  • Intersection of Personality and Social Psychology
  • Approaches to Personality
  • Discrimination and Prejudice from Target’s Perspectives

I explore these questions while (1) incorporating different relevant perspectives (interdisciplinary: relevant disciplines working on individuals in environments; across psychological sub-disciplines: e.g., personality, social, health and well-being, developmental, cultural, biological, quantitative methods), (2) combining different study designs (e.g., experience sampling, longitudinal panel studies, laboratory studies, online studies, experimental designs), and (3) using various statistical analysis techniques (e.g., meta-analysis, multilevel modeling, structural equation modeling, psychometrics, Monte- Carlo simulations).
