Abstract
A stack of annular detectors made of high purity germanium and a magnet spectrograph were used to measure pp to d pi /sup +/ differential cross sections at a beam momentum of 850 MeV/c over a large
ngular range. A total cross section of sigma =0.2301+or-0.0036(stat)+or-0.0230(syst) mb and an anisotropy A/sub 2//A/sub 0/=0.856+or-0.016 were deduced. These values follow fits to low energy data.
rom the present A/sub 2/ value it is found that the pionic p-wave amplitude a/sub 0/ is larger than assumed so far. (19 References).
