Dr. Matteo Mauro, who just completed his PhD studies at the University of Milano under the supervision of Professor Giuseppe D’Alfonso of the department of Inorganic Chemistry "Lamberto Malatesta" in a joint project with WWUM,, Prof. De Cola’s group and in collaboration with CIBA/BASF (Basel, Switzerland) is one of the winner of the prestigious prize.
The Prize is awarded to two Ph.D. theses regarding on the subjects of the efficiency of the exploitation of hydrocarbons, renewable and non-conventional energy and the environment protection. Each of the two winners declared by the Organizing Committee of the Eni Award will receive a prize consisting of a gold medal and € 25,000. The prize will be awarded on June 9th 2010 by The President of the Italian Republic Giorgio Napolitano, in Rome at the Quirinal Palace. The research activities of Dr. Mauro focussed on the development of new materials which can be employed for the develoment of electroluminescent devices. In particular the synthesis and the use of luminescent rhenium complexes and of porous iridium crystalline materials were the main topics of his thesis.
