Curriculum Vitae

Current Research:

I joined the group of Prof De Cola as postdoctoral fellow in April 2008. I’m involved in the synthesis of new luminescent ligands and Pt(II) complexes and their application in (electro)luminescent devices.

Background

My scientific background is mostly based on organic and organometallic chemistry. I studied Chemistry at the University of Murcia (Spain). My first contact with research was at Prof. Dr. Bernhard Witulski group at the University of Kaiserslautern working on Rh- and Ru- catalyzed cyclotrimerizations of alkynes. Afterwards, I returned to Murcia where I did my PhD under the supervision of Prof. Jose Vicente Soler working on the synthesis, characterization and study of new enolate and ketonyl Pd(II), Pt(II) and Pt(IV) complexes. During this period I broadened my knowledge in palladium catalysed reactions with two short stays at the University of Bristol under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Guy Lloyd-Jones and at the University of North Carolina with Prof Dr. Maurice Brookhart. After the defence of my PhD, I worked as a postdoc in Murcia developing new synthetic strategies to prepare tailor made phenylene oligomers with different bridges (NH, O, C≡C, etc...) and study their photophysical properties.
