Background and research interests
I received the Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from National Tsing Hua University (Prof. Yun Chi), Taiwan, in 2007. Then I was a postdoctoral researcher in Department of Chemistry, National Taiwan University (Prof. Pi-Tai Chou) from August 2007 to April 2008. My research centers on the development of new phosphorescent Ir(III), Pt(II), Ru(II), Os(II) and Cu(I) metal complexes in manufacturing high performance Phosphorescent Organic Light-Emitting Devices (PHOLEDs). In July 2008, I joined the group of AG Prof. De Cola as a postdoctoral researcher, and then I got Humboldt Fellowship for 16 months in November 2008.
Current research
My research was focused on the preparation and characterization of new charged phosphorescent emitting materials for high efficiency Light-Emitting Electrochemical Cells (LEECs) in collaboration with SIEMENS. We have developed a new class of Iridium metal complexes containing carbene ligands for blue light-emitting electrochemical cells. These iridium complexes and the described devices are the bluest materials ever reported and the first case of LEECs based on carbene ligands. (Inorganic Chemistry, 2010, in press. DOI: 10.1021/ic1009253)

Now, I am working on synthesis, photophysical characterization and device preparation of electroluminescent complexes in collaboration with Merck Project.
