Current Research
I joined the group of Prof. De Cola as postdoctoral fellow in February 2011. I’m involved in the project ONE-P (Organic Nanomaterials for Electronics and Photonics), funded by the European Community’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013) under grant agreement n° 212311, working on design, synthesis and characterization of new triplet emitters with short excited lifetime.
Background
In 2001, I started my undergraduate studies at the Chemistry Engineering School of Bucharest, Romania. I had the opportunity to do all my classes in French, this being an important reason why I’ve continued my studies in France. In 2006 I got a one-year scholarship and I choose to do my master in Organic Chemistry in Grenoble, France. After my master, I obtained a PhD fellowship from the French government for 3 years.
In November 2010 I defended my PhD thesis “Activation by electron transfer: applications to switchable systems and to molecular engineering” at the Joseph Fourier University, Department of Molecular Chemistry, Grenoble - France (Advisors: Prof. Eric Saint-Aman and Dr. Christophe Bucher). The common denominator of my PhD thesis was the electrochemical activation of molecules. This concept was either used to create complex architectures in molecular engineering and propose an affective alternative to conventional methods for the synthesis of pyrrol macrocycles, or to induce molecular motions by electrochemical stimuli of molecular rotors and tweezers.
