The strong miniaturization of modern, technical applications leads to a combination of different materials on a confined space. Thus, the physical properties of materials and their interfaces strongly determine the functionality and long-term stability of the applications.
In our group, we study the properties of smallest structures and their interfaces, regarding to e.g. atomic transport processes or interface reactions. For this purpose, we employ cutting-edge technologies like High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HR-TEM) or Tomographic Atom Probe (TAP) - which are both leading techniques in the area of analytic microscopy with atomic resolution.
