With over 9.000 students, the Faculty of Philology is the largest faculty at the University of Münster.
Its broad spectrum of philological subjects guarantees a diverse academic programme with high-quality supervision and advising.

Graduate Schools

Junior researchers can earn their PhD within three years by participating in a structured PhD programme at the Faculty, e.g. the graduate schools "Empirical and Applied Linguistics", "Practices of Literature", "European Classics" or the research training group "Literary Form".

Research institutes and centres

The Faculty of Philology strongly values interdisciplinary collaboration. In the form of structured joint projects which involve multiple departments and extend beyond disciplinary boundaries, various institutes at the faculty pursue interdisciplinary and international research and teaching goals and promote dialogue with the public.

International relations

The institutes of the Faculty of Philology and their academic staff cooperate with numerous foreign partners and institutions in the areas of research and teaching. In this way, their degree programmes gain an even stronger international orientation and allow students to study abroad and complete foreign work placements.
