“Russia’s invasion represents an enormous watershed in world politics”

As the holder of the Chair for International Relations and Sustainable Development and ZIN-spokeswoman, Prof. Doris Fuchs is one of four experts analyzing the consequences of the war in Ukraine in a press release of the University of Muester. She points out that “there are actually connections between this current war and the long-term climate crisis”. Having illustrated the context of this statement, she concludes that “the best strategy to reduce German dependence on Russia and on authoritarian states in general, and to combat climate change, is ultimately one and the same: consume less energy!”
