Technische Details
We use a custom-built 800 t uniaxial press for multi-anvil experiments. Our set-up follows the basic design of Walker et al. (1990) with first-stage anvils being contained in a large cylindrical ring made of hardened steel. The first stage anvils drive tungsten carbide cubes with truncated corners, the latter of which act as second stage anvils. So far, we’ve used 18/12 and 14/8 geometries in our laboratory.

Einsatzbereiche
Our labs are currently set-up for experiments in the range of 3 – 15 GPa and temperatures up to ca 3000K. Sample size critically depends on the assembly used with sample sizes in 18/12 geometries usually about 2x2 mm (cylindrical) and accordingly smaller in 14/8 assemblies.
