Research summary of carbohydrate related expertise:
  1. Biochemistry and applications of Euphorbiaceae latex lectins. Hitherto except Hevea lectin, all the latex lectins are galactose-specific and it is interesting to note that all these latex lectins taxa belong to Euphorbiaceae family. Our lab research reveals that the latex lectins are binding some of the human blood and seminal plasma proteins. So, the latex lectin-affinity chromatographic technique could be useful for studies on human blood and seminal plasma proteins.
  2. Plant seed gums and exudates gums are being exploited for preparation of affinity matrices to isolate lectins.
Methods used:
Biochemical assays, Protein purifications, Lectin-linked enzyme assays, ELISA
