    Multifunctional annotation of eLearning software for the Romance languages – a collaboration with the Ernst Klett publishing house, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF)

The Arbeitsbereich Linguistic can look back on a large number of externally funded international projects, with a strong focus in the domains of linguistics (in particular lexicography) and eLearning.

  • PortaLingua/liON (2001–2004)
    A follow-up project to BabelOn – a cooperation with the University of Bielefeld within the PortaLingua framework ("Hochschulverbund zum Einsatz curricularer Bausteine in der Sprach- und Kommunikationswissenschaft – multimediale Lehr- und Lernressourcen für Präsenzlehre, Selbststudium und Weiterbildung")
  • Evaluation Neuer Medien in Geistes- und Naturwissenschaften (2001–2003)
    A follow-up project to BabelOn which evaluated the impact of the eLearning environment on classroom teaching
  • Trimar (2000–2003)
    Training in internet marketing – an EU project in the Leonardo da Vinci programme

    Example-based understanding and translation systems (ESPRIT Project 20268)

    Teaching materials on the use of the Internet for university teachers of English (funded within the INFO 2000 framework)

    French phrases for advanced learners of French (EC-funded within the Lingua framework)
  • MTP and Xlex/www (1995–2001)
    The Münster Tagging Project – a German and an English tagset with rich training data, plus Xlex/www, the web interface of the Xlex suite of tools for linguistic data processing
  • GRECOTERM (1993–1994)
    Greek and German teaching materials for the vocational training of employees and managers in the tourism sector (EC-funded within the Lingua framework)
  • ECO-JURA-DICT (1993–1995)
    Multilingual legal and economic terminology for students of economics and the laws (EC-funded within the Lingua framework)
  • MULTEXT (1993–1995)
    MULTEXT encompasses a series of projects whose goals are to develop standards and specifications for the encoding and processing of linguistic corpora, and to develop tools, corpora and linguistic resources embodying these standards (EC-funded)
  • MULTILEX (1991–1993)
    As part of the EC-funded MULTILEX project (ESPRIT project 5304), the Arbeitsbereich Linguistik has developed the MLEXd standard for the representation of lexicographical data
