The Arbeitsbereich Linguistik looks back on several externally funded projects that have been completed successfully. The department has experience and competence in corpus linguistics, computer-based lexicography, and e-learning.
The experience in the area of corpus linguistics and lexicography has been gained in several EU-funded projects (Multext, Multilex, and Eutrans, among others). Furthermore, in the 1990s, huge efforts went into the building of training corpora for automatic parts-of-speech tagging within the projects MTP/D and MTP/E.
As far as e-learning is concerned, the Arbeitsbereich Linguistik co-operated with the University of Bielefeld in the project "Linguistik und Neue Medien" ('Linguistics and the New Media'), funded by the Land Northrhine-Westfalia, and two follow-up projects, one of which in the "PortaLingua" framework. Recently completed was the "RomaniS" project, a collaboration with the Ernst Klett educational publishing house and is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Furthermore, the Arbeitsbereich Linguistik is the organiser of the BA/MA course Language, Text, and Information (LTI), which extends the collaboration with the Institute for Computer Science.
