‘Languages for eCommerce’ is a pilot project co-funded by the
European Commission’s Leonardo da Vinci programme (2004-2007). For the
project, partners from 7
different European countries have created a study module composed of
the following online courses:
- Languages for eCommerce (3+2 ECTS, in English, German and Spanish)
- The objective of this course is to guide participants through the stages of writing for the websites of online retailers and electronic shops using clear, fluent and persuasive language.
- Emarketing for International Commerce (2 ECTS)
- This course helps participants understand, among other things, the importance of eCommerce in today’s economies. It familiarises participants with the eMarketing notions of internationalisation and localisation.
- Ecommerce Application Design (2 ECTS)
- In this course participants are acquainted with the architecture and functional requirements of eCommerce application design. It introduces them to the issues of multilingual content and cross-cultural design constraints.
A multilingual eCommerce dictionary is linked to the courses. The languages of the dictionary are: English, German, Spanish and Finnish.
With these tools, we aim
- to promote and develop the use of foreign languages on eCommerce websites.
- to help SMEs develop web pages that are appropriate for targeting markets in foreign countries.
The target users of the courses and the dictionary are both students in higher education and employees of SMEs that are looking for new export opportunities.
