KETTI - Competence Development of Student Teaching Assistants in Computer Science

Goals

Development and adaptation of training courses for student teaching assistants with a focus on pedagogical content knowledge, learning barriers, and non-standard teaching.

Summary

The aim of the project is to prepare teaching assistants to activate students and supporting their learning. To formalize this, we will theoretically and empirically derive a specific competence model for teaching assistants. This model will be supplemented by a corresponding measurement instrument. As part of this project, we will develop, implement, and evaluate matching training courses for teaching assistants.
Since the first year of college is known to be crucial for recruitment, retention, and setting standards, we focus on first-yearcourses, i.e., introduction to programming and algorithms.
