> Elective Course of ITM Law

The two-semester elective course in information, telecommunication and media law deals with the civil and public law questions of modern communication and the communication society in a unitary structure. It can be chosen every semester.

The elective course of ITM Law comprises 7 written exams and 1 essay:

  • 1 written exam dealing with legal basics (e.g. philosophy of law, new European private law history, basic knowledge in legal theory, introduction in communication science, introduction in commercial information technology)
  • 3 written exams dealing with compulsory courses: information law, telecommunication law and data protection law
  • 3 written exams concerning elective mandatory courses (e.g. copyright law, broadcast law, trademark law, patent law, competition and anti-trust law, industrial property, public procurement law, international public economic law, European law, international private law)
  • 1 essay dealing with issues concerning ITM law30 credits have to be achieved in order to pass the final exam of the elective course. Each exam counts 3 credits, the essay counts 9 credits.The grade achieved in all parts of the elective course will form 30 % of the final grade of the first German state exam.
