Master of Science Geoinformatics - Institute for Geoinformatics


Our goal is to educate students in the most advanced techniques in geographic information processing. Building on a Bachelor of Science in Geoinformatics or a related discipline, the Master of Science in Geoinformatics program will further develop the student's problem solving skills, analytic capabilities, and teach innovative and creative scientific research methods. As one of the leading places for exploring new frontiers in geospatial information science, the Institute for Geoinformatics Münster provides Master students a chance to get personally involved in cutting-edge research projects. This opens opportunities to conduct Master theses on new and emerging technologies. Obtaining a Master's degree from the Institute for Geoinformatics will prepare you for a leading position in industry and academics. Medium of instruction is English.

Two scholarships for international students MSc in Geoinformatics at ifgi

The Institute for Geoinformatics (ifgi), University of Münster, Germany, is one of the world-wide leading institutions in geospatial information science (GI Science) research. The MSc in Geoinformatics will enable students to further develop their problem solving skills, to acquire analytic capabilities, and to learn about innovative and creative scientific research methods. ifgi also offers Master students the opportunity to get personally involved in cutting-edge research projects. The medium of instruction is English.

ifgi provides two four-semesters scholarship (October 1, 2016 – September 30, 2018) to two international students (non-German nationality, not having lived in Germany within the past 3 years before the application deadline, not having obtained a degree in Germany). Applicants need to hold a Bachelor degree in Geoinformatics or a similar topic. Among applicants of equal qualifications, female and disabled candidates will be given the preference unless other candidate-related reasons prevail.

The ifgi scholarship includes

  • A monthly scholarship lump sum of 700 € per month (October 1, 2016 - September 30, 2018)
  • Coverage of semester fees for four semesters
  • Travel costs to Germany (1 return ticket), up to 1.200 € according to actual and documented costs
  • Pre-arrival and after-arrival support by ifgi
