Research Interests
The main scientific goal of my PhD thesis is the understanding of the sedimentary sulfur cycling throughout the Archean-Paleoproterozoic transition (APT) between 2.5 and 2.0 Ga. Thereby the application of multiple sulfur isotope research (δ34S, Δ33S and Δ36S) offers the possibility to reconstruct past environmental conditions and changes in ocean chemistry as well as changes in the atmospheric oxygen concentration through time.
The FAR DEEP (Fennoscandian Arctic Russia Drilling Early Earth Programme) drillcores provide excellent material to examine this crucial interval in Earth history.
